Funding Opportunities
Mike Klymkowsky, CU-Boulder professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology, won seventh place in the 2007 Nikon Small World Photomicrography competition for this photo of Xenopus frog embryos. Taken as part of a research project to characterize the anti-Sox3 antibody, the image shows the distribution of a protein (the transcription factor Sox3) in early clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) embryos. Klymkowsky was elected as a fellow to the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2008 for his distinguished contributions to biology education and continues to explore approaches for generating more interactive learning experiences.
