Driver Training

Transportation Services offers a variety of training opportunities. Transportation Services staff consists of a combination of trained and certified driver training personnel. Structured courses are available for Defensive Driving training and CDL testing. Customized programs are also available. Transportation Services staff is committed to providing safe driving practices for all campus drivers.

Specialized Training

Defensive Driving Course (DDC)

All individuals who drive as a requirement for his/her University employment and anyone under the age of 26 who drive a University vehicle, i.e.student, staff, or faculty who lease and drive a vehicle from the Transportation Services.

The course is four hours in length and meets twice a week in the Transportation Services training room (follow the yellow feet in the parking lot to the training room.)

Generally, class meets Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Thursdays 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., but at lease five people must be signed up for class to be held.

To sign up for the class, call 492-7152 and have the following information ready:

  1. Dates and times available for the class
  2. Name of person attending
  3. Department they are driving for
  4. Speed type of department
  5. Department contact person, campus box, and extension

15 Passenger Van 

Transportation Services has mandated a two hour computerized (Coaching a van Driver) as will as a thirty minute behind the wheel evaluation for fifteen passenger van operators. Call 492-7152 more information.

CDL

Transportation Services can train and administer the driving examine for Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL) for University employees who require this license for their employment. Call 492-2752 more information.
