Experience a week in rural New York at the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary. This sanctuary rescues cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats and other farm animals from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Come be a volunteer and make a difference in an animal’s life. This trip will offer face-to -face interactions with many of the farm’s wonderful critters. To add to the experience participants will stay in beautiful, homey cottages and a vegan meal will be provided daily by the farm. Out of respect for our animal friends we will be keeping this trip vegetarian meal based. The animals are waiting! Please apply soon!

Amy had leukemia and one wish - to visit the theme parks in Orlando.
Residing in the morning mist of Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee, Florida
a village exists to fulfill such wishes.
Come share your Spring Break with terminally ill children,
volunteering at the Village where dreams are made.
The weeks activities will include: serving dinner, playing, scoopin'
ice cream, dancing, dressing up for themed events, and being
surrounded by the joy of children.

DISASTER RELIEF: 2 trips. New Orleans, LA

1) New Orleans, LA: $420.00

Trip Description:
The New Orleans St. Bernard Disaster Relief group will be traveling to New Orleans from March 19-26. We will be working with the St. Bernard project and helping to rebuild some homes that were lost due to Hurricane Katrina. Before the trip, you will learn about one of the greatest natural disasters and then through the trip, will provide hands on service. Once in New Orleans, this group will have a chance to explore some of the wonderful culture. They will be attending a jazz club for dinner, going to an art museum, and will even have some left over time to wander through the French Quarter, Magazine Street, and some of the other great places the city has to offer!

Trip Description:
This trip will spend the first two days in New Orleans volunteering with Hands On New Orleans, whose mission is to make New Orleans a center of community minded individuals who take action through service to meet critical needs. Possible themes for volunteering include: Disaster Relief Services, Environment: Conservation, Justice and Legal Support, and Cleanups. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to see transformative change occur from their efforts in the community. As well, they will gain a better understanding of the value of service to a community in need. The trip will then take a day to see the city of New Orleans, and the final two days will be spent volunteering with Evacuteer.org, a non-profit organization centered around utilizing civilian resources in the event of a major evacuation in the New Orleans area. Participants will be assisting Evacuteer.org in speaking with members of the New Orleans community to learn about their past, present, and future evacuation needs. This is a truly unique experience that will give participants the hands on experience with the affected community. The group will be learning about lessons from past disasters, the current needs of a city remaining in a crisis, and their needs for the future as disasters. This opportunity will provide volunteers with the opportunity to understand the severity of the events that occur in this area, and observe the plight of the citizens in their daily efforts to bounce back.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION: 2 trips

1) Catalina Island , CA : $630.00

Trip Description:
The Catalina Island Environmental Conservation trip will be doing environmental conservation work on Catalina Island in order to help maintain the pristine and unique ecology and natural landscape of the island. The group of eight volunteers will depart Boulder, Colorado on Friday, March 18th and arrive in Catalina Island on Sunday morning, March 20th. There, they will be volunteering with the Catalina Island Conservancy for four days. Afterwards, they will journey back to Colorado via three national parks (Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Arches) where they can nurture an even greater appreciation for, and relationship with, the natural world.
*Note: Volunteers will arrive back in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday afternoon, March 27th.

2) Cascade Head, Oregon: $575.00

Trip Description:
This trip will help to preserve a rare habitat on one of Oregon's rocky coastlines. "Cascade Head is a haven for rare plants, wildlife and grassland communities once abundant along the Oregon Coast," (Nature.org). The service project will focus on improving the environment through helping remove invasive species and participating in trail maintenance. The participants will help to preserve the rare silverspot butterfly's habitat while working in a beautiful site on the west coast that has been recognized as a National Scenic Research Area and a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. The trip will be also be exploring some forests and visiting the an aquarium to promote understanding and appreciation of the environment we live in.

Human Rights and Documentary Film Project
This trip will explore the issue of human rights through an action-packed spring break road trip from Boulder to San Diego, California. Along the way, the trip will be stopping through Moab, Saint George, and Las Vegas where there will be several activities planned including hiking through Arches National Park. Upon arrival of the destination, participants will work with Casa Familiar in San Ysidro, located on the Mexican border between Tijuana and downtown San Diego. Casa Familiar is an organization that responds to the needs of low-income border communities. The population of San Ysidro is 91% minority and the median income level is under $22,761. As part of the service, participants will work with this population to try to understand their growing needs and address what still needs to be done. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the filming of a documentary that will capture the trip and the experiences we have working on site. This trip will allow us to understand how media can be a powerful tool to capture the experiences of the minority and as an education tool to impact our communities at home.

This trip will travel to Austin, TX to work on issues relating to nutrition, health, food justice and developing local community. Volunteers will work with Urban Patchwork, a locally-based urban farm organization that helps communities build, maintain and expand urban gardens, as well as work with local schools to help involve urban youth in community agriculture as an alternative educational tool. Volunteers will be able to work in building garden plots, harvesting food and working and learning in a literal "food desert", where the only access people have to fresh produce is from the neighborhood Wal-Mart. We will also be volunteering with the Capitol Area Foodbank in Austin, where we will have the unique opportunity to work with the organization on food justice and nutrition education, helping to distribute locally grown food and educate the community about nutrition and wellness.

Trip Description:
The Alternative Spring Break trip with the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless is a phenomenal trip! Participants are provided with a wide arrange of speakers (homeless persons, activists, police officers, etc...) and activities to learn from, as well as eye-opening service opportunities at homeless shelters, urban gardens, and innovative for-profit businesses designed to help those with financial hardship and the homeless begin careers. Over the Rhine (OTR) is such a great location for this trip because of its long and interesting history, its character, and its political pertinence to broader societal patterns. Volunteers are put up in a narrow, 3-story building right at the edge of Washington Park in OTR where nearly everything is walking distance. There are also plenty of fun things to do and places to check out in Cincinnati and along the Ohio River.

Come with us to Boulder Creek, CA! Located in the redwoods forest, Boulder Creeks hosts Camp Campbell; a YMCA Camp for students from San Jose, CA. Students at Camp Campbell learn about science and nature by using what is right in front of them: the outdoors! Participants on this trip will be the camp counselors for a group of 5th grade students for their 4 day, 3 night stay. So if you love kids and love the outdoors, Boulder Creek is the trip for you!
