Dear People’s Summit Workshop Applicant,

The Coalition for Economic Justice is a coalition of grassroots organizations in Boulder, Colorado working to educate, empower, and unite people striving for justice in the face of corporate globalization. The People’s Summit on Globalization will bring together the communities working on labor rights, human rights, and environmental issues, as well as people newly developing an interest in the impacts of global economic development.

The People’s Summit will take place on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus from March 8-11, 2001. The conference will include keynotes speeches, panel discussion, and skills building workshops. The topics covered by the speakers and workshops leaders will cover a broad range of issues, the dialogue will focus on the impacts globalization is having on communities throughout the world and how we as citizens can engage the process of globalization to put people before profits.

We invite you to lead a workshop at The People’s Summit on Globalization. We are asking a broad range of organizations to host workshops which we believe will provide conference participants the nuts and bolts skills for effectively engaging in the effort to transform global economic development. If you are interested in leading a workshop, we need a fairly detailed statement from you about who you are, the organization you represent, the workshop you would like to lead, and how conference participants will benefit from your workshop.

Each workshop will be allotted a two-hour time slot. We expect workshop leaders to make constructive use of the entire two hours. If you have a workshop that requires more than two hours, we will consider giving you two consecutive workshop slots for a total of four hours maximum. The workshops will be set-up in course blocks beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the final workshop beginning at 4:00 p.m.
