What is Something Most People Do Not Know About You:

I am a certified scuba diver. I got certified when I was in 9th grade.

When did you become a Chrisitan/how did you come to know the Lord? Aug. 2001 was when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was when Pastor Tony was speaking at this rally and I remember Mark giving his testimony about a car accident. I remember going to that rally because all my friends went and i wanted to meet people, but i actually was convicted

How did you decide you wanted to become apart of LS?
I wanted something that would be helpful in building a stronger relationship with God and keep me strong throughout the week.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
hmmm... hopefully done with school and married to a loving husband with cute kids and have a good paying, enjoyable job. =)

What are three of your strengths?
I am very organized, compassionate towards others, and I am a very determined person

What is your passion?
Kids.. i love kids~~

Who is your role model?
my cousin, Susan who is a year older than me.

What is your biggest fear?
Fear of being unwanted and alone. =/

Do you have any words of wisdom to share with us?

There are a lot of things going on in this world and sometimes it seems like every thing is just not going right but if you are patient and you keep persevering, it would just make you a stronger person.

Jennifer’s Testimony:

Hello! My name is Jennifer Wong and I am currently a freshman at CU Boulder studying psychology and going into pre-med. My parents are Buddhist and I didn’t know Jesus until my cousin shared the word with me. It all started when my cousin was in middle school in a religions class. Her teacher preached the word of God instead of teaching the class. Unfortunately, that teacher lost his job because he decided to spread the word instead of doing what he was paid to do. However, it was good for both my cousin and I. Then not too long afterwards, I started hanging out with a different group of people at school. We became friends instantly and a few of them would invite me to church on occasions. I would go to fall festivals, rallies, and also Friday Night Live. I started to really like going to church because all my friends were going and I had a good time meeting new people and just hanging out with them. When I got my license, I started going to Sunday services. I would tell my parents that my brother and I would start working out on Sunday mornings and we would actually wear our work out clothes over our church clothes. One day, my mom woke up early that morning and she came into my room and asked me where I was going all dressed up. She got pretty upset because she knew we were going to church and that I was lying to her about it. She prohibited my brother and I from going to church. I knew that in the Bible it says to respect your parents so I did what they told me to do. I stopped going to church for awhile but I ended up going a few weeks later. But this time, we would just leave for church and not tell her anything. My mom finally sat down with me and had this little talk and asked me why I liked going to church all the time. I told her because it was fun and that all my friends went and she lectured me on how our family is Chinese and we must keep our traditions. She kept telling me that because I wasn’t Korean that I shouldn’t be going to KCC. My mom had a good point because at times I would feel awkward not knowing what the elderly people from KM were talking about. At times I felt so discouraged and so out of place that I didn’t want to go to church anymore. However, as time went on my parents were finally okay with the fact that we went to church on Sundays. I even remember that first day of EM, my parents were home and they asked me why I wasn’t going to church that day. I was really surprised that they asked me that because initially they were so against my brother and I going to church.

I had a talk with my aunt recently and she even asked me if I believed in God because my mom would talk to her about us going to church all the time. She told me that my mom was glad that my brother and I were going to church instead of going out and hanging out with the wrong crowd. God has really answered my prayers.

My parents are still not believers so please pray for my parents so that they can hear the good news.

Paul Kim - Open Option Freshman

Where are you from?
Originally from California.

Where in California?

LA territory…in Garden Grove.

So what made you come to Colorado?

Dad’s Job…I lived in Aurora and Greeley.

What’s Greeley like? I’ve never been there.

Greeley is peaceful…Aurora is more city.

Why did you come to CU?

A Scholarship.

What do you think so far about your first year here?

Its tuff…really tuff…but awesome.

I think the first thing people recognize about you at LS is your uniform.

Yeah…That’s actually my scholarship I’m on.

Can you explain further?

My family influenced me. My father, uncle and Grandfather all served. My father and Grandfather served in Korea, and my Uncle served here.

How hard is ROTC?

It’s really demanding…physically and mentally demanding. We meet up six times a week. If I’m late for Bio…its not that big of a deal, but late for ROTC….its not good.

They make you do push ups, huh?

Yeah.

How many push ups can you do nonstop?

70.

Wow! After you graduate how long do have to serve ?

4 Years. It’s quite a commitment…but being an officer when you graduate is a good thing.

Biggest Influence in your life?

Ah man…grandfather. He’s 75 yrs old…his spirit…he is so powerful…so strong…physically and mentally. He served as a colonel in Korea, came to America and had to start all over. He worked in a metallic factory and got his arm cut off…it was make or break for him, but he held on to Christ. He always says, “Lost time is never found”.

Do have a favorite book?

Yeah, two…the first is the Endergame and the second is Its not about the bike. The second one was written by Lance Armstrong.

Did you keep up with the last Tour de France?

Kind of.

How many Tour de France wins is that for him?

5…if he wins the next one, he’ll be the only one with 6 wins. Yeah…I encouraged Tony to read the book and I encourage you to read it too. I think if my grandfather wasn’t by biggest influence it’s Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong said, “Pain is only temporary, but quitting lasts for ever.”
Woah…a man of quotes.

Do they (littlespark) do this everyweek?
No monthly.

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

Mighty Max

Mighty Max?

Yeah…he’s a kid with a magical hat and goes back in time. Also, Ninja Turtles…nothing fades Ninja Turtles.

Did you have a favorite Toy?

Raphael (one of the four Ninja Turtles)…but I never got it…and I ran away…but only got down the street. (laughing) I stuck a piece of bread in my pocket and got on my bike. But, my brother stopped me and told me that he’d buy it for me.

Is that true…did that really happen?

Yeah…Its true. But I still never got it.

Sounds like your bitter?

Ah…its cool now…but about 4 years ago I bought it…its on my shelf.

Broken any bones?

Yeah… I broke all my pinkies. On toe I broke wrestling. The other pinky toe I broke playing soccer. One pinky finger I broke fighting my brother. The other I broke playing basketball… See…(showing me his crooked pinky).

Sounds like you were pretty wild growing up?

Yeah kind of…

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done?

Hmm…(pausing)…jumped off a set of stairs on my rollerblades. No one in my neighborhood could do it, but I did it.

Did you get jacked up?

No…it was perfect…it was beautiful.

I’m gonna start asking you some difficult questions. What is the most weird habit you have that no one knows about?

I always push in chairs…does matter where I am, I’m always pushing in chairs. (Thinking)…I have a bunch…(laughing)…I sleep with a doll…a white bunny. His name is Peter.

All right then…moving on. If you could do anything tomorrow without any limitations what would it be?

Go to the Olympics and compete. I would compete in gymnastics and wrestling.

Gymnastics?

Yeah…gymnastics…I would compete in the Pummel Horse.

Did you take gymnastics?

No…

Oh!...Well, do you like McDonalds or Burger King?

McDonalds…a number 2 with 6pc chicken nuggets.

Pepsi or Coca-Cola?

Pepsi…coke is too harsh. Too much carbonation.

Pancakes or Waffles?

Neither…too sweet. I’m looking for sausage, eggs, and toast. Serious food.

Do you like Breakfast in the morning or at Night?

In the morning…so good! Especially after ROTC training, it makes you hungry.

I like breakfast at night. Do you like watching movies at the theatre or at home with friends?

Neither…at home by myself. I can’t take the movie seriously with friends.

Favorite Movie?

I don’t really have any…well…(thinking)…I like Heat.
That’s a good movie. Have you noticed that hanging lump on Val Khilmer’s elbow? Watch it next time you watch Heat. On to serious questions…In one sentence

How did you come to Christ?

I choose God because he loved me more than anybody else.

Is there a reoccurring theme Christ has been teaching you?

(Without hesitation)…To love people for who they really are.

A lot of brothers I have spoken to feel at one time or another, a desire to serve God full time…to go into ministry. Have you ever felt that?

Yeah…Sometimes…like I have these dreams. Recently, I had a dream about these starving kids and then about people eating very gluttonously.

Sounds like you have a heart to serve people?

Yeah…I guess that’s what it comes down to.

If you could give one piece of advice to, say, your little brother what would it be?

Keep away from the adulteress, because her lips drip of honey, her speech smoother than oil, but her paths will lead you straight to the grave.

That’s a pretty bold advice.
Yeah, it’s found in Proverbs. It has kept me straight. I’ve seen a lot of Christian Brothers fall.

You seem to want to live a life of no regrets. Is there something in your life you do regret?

Hmm...(thinking for a while)…Doing drugs.
