Pressing On

I have been attending the University of Colorado for many years and I have attained great knowledge. Through my mosaic of different experiences and perspectives since my freshman year, I can write a book on surviving college. I have had to learn many lessons the hard way. Nevertheless I am always newly surprised by the struggles of many college students. The problems, in any context, are the same: “Who am I? What am I doing? Where am I going?” There is a lack of and seeking of self Identity.

For many students, especially freshman, become nervous and begin asking these questions after a failed exam. There are not many events or seasons during the year I look forward to. But there is one special time I am in eager anticipation for, the freshman breakdown. This is a time where first time students break apart and realize that college is more difficult than first realized. I'm just joking or am I?

If you find yourself asking the above questions listen to my advice. The very precious advice , I am giving you for free, is in two parts.

Seek Christ in all things, including struggles. I rarely meet people in crazy situations of no hope or future, when they are pursuing Christ. In contrast, I do run into many people who are nervous and in frustration apart from Christ. These types of people often withdraw and remove themselves from spiritual and Christ-centered things. Shame on you! You know better than this! The answers for life's entire questions are found in Christ.

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are then birds…Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin…If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, who much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith… But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Luke 12:22-31.

Highly recommend reading this section! Encouraging and Reassuring!

When experiencing difficulty, do not become angry and a hermit. The natural reaction of the homo sapien when confronted with hardship is to seek isolation. This is very dangerous. Take time to gather yourself, but seek help not seclusion.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

This seems obvious, but easily forgotten or overlooked. Sometimes it is hard asking for help. We want to be self-reliant, when we are utterly dependent on each other. In Christ, fellowship is a powerful powerful source of therapy and victory.

The ministry of Little Spark is an avenue for people to come to and grow in Jesus Christ. We want to build up community and spur each other towards Christ. The ministry's desire is to serve and love the campus and our neighbors. We trust that through our efforts and God's grace we will build leaders to impact the world in Christ.

" Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory because of your love and faithfulness."

Psalm 115:1

Your Campus Leader and Friend,
