CUSAMS

Who We Are

CUSAMS a network of student abolitionists aspiring to combat all forms of modern-day slavery, both domestically and internationally, including: human trafficking, forced labor, child soldiers, and debt bondage.

We seek to accomplish this by staying informed; actively and creatively increasing awareness on the CU campus; connecting students to opportunities in the field; and raising funds for those fighting slavery on the front lines.

Events

  • CUSAMS regularly hosts campus events for both the CU community and the Boulder community.

For up-to-date info on upcoming events, visit our Twitter, Facebook, or tumblr site.

If you would like to help with an event; if you're an on-campus organization wanting to partner with us, or if you're an off-campus organization needing a sponsor for an event with similar goals, just send us an email.

Saturate Academia

Overview

The goal of our Saturate Academia project is to get human trafficking awareness into as many courses as possible. We need people to scan course lists for classes that human trafficking awareness could fit into naturally (ethics classes, business classes, international affairs classes, ethnic studies, womens studies, etc.) This is a vital project you can spend as much or as little of your time on as you'd like! No matter your availability you can contribute.

The Details

In order to further the presence of anti-human trafficking measures and awareness here on campus, we have decided to initiate Operation Saturate Academia. This long term project seeks to have human trafficking awareness integrated into as many courses at CU as possible. What better way to inform students of one of the worst atrocities of our time than to facilitate them in classes they are already required to take, or can get valuable credits for taking? To that end, we will be canvassing course and teacher lists, and identifying areas where human trafficking could be easily integrated into a course, with the goal being that we can contact the course professors next semester.

If you are interested in joining this momentous operation, please send us an email and we will work on setting up a meeting where we can delegate specific areas for you to work on.

One of the great things about this project is it is not going to require an incredible amount of individual work as far as you're concerned. This is very much going to be a project that you can donate as much or as little time as you are able, with long term results that could be extraordinary as far as raising awareness at CU. So again, if you are interested, send us an email with your major (so we can assign you an area you're familiar with)!
