Nationals 2003
Our 2003 National’s Road Team Members are:
Women: Erin Huck, Molly Hummel, Sarah
Poehlmann, Mary Rudy, and Megan Melamed, and
Men: Collin Becker, Josh Bezecny, Aaron
Brown, Ryan Lynch, and Jeremy Texier They
will be accompanied by our coaches Margell Abel, Jorge Espinoza,
Eric Levinson, and Annie Sirotniak. Road Nationals are being
held this year in Berkeley CA.
Congratulations to all of our A-Team riders
this year on a successful race season and for those that
did not make our Nationals team this year we look forward
to racing and riding with you next year. Making the Nationals
team takes dedication to the sport, the club, and to one’s
self. It’s never easy to work hard and make sacrifices
for such a large event that arrives so soon in the regular
road season. It’s very difficult for riders to prepare
and create a training schedule when they are uncertain that
they will be selected. The commitment involved is difficult
to maintain given that if they are selected and choose to
go they must possibly alter the rest of their summer racing
season. The commitment is further challenged by the fact
that we have such a large pool of A-Team riders no rider
is guaranteed a place on the National’s team, every
season every A-Team rider must essentially start from scratch.
The selection process for the coaches is never easy and
this year was no exception. It was an arduous and difficult
task and those A-Team riders that were not selected this
year should only be inspired to return to the sport of collegiate
cycling next year, again the decision on who to send was
very close.
