Is this agreement used to limit the right of freedom of speech?
No. This agreement doesn't try to limit the right of freedom of
speech. It tries to maximize the right of freedom on the premises that no
or little harm is done to any of our subscribers.
2. What are the major
changes?
a. Only subscribers
can send emails to the list.
b. New subscribers
must wait for the approval of Listmaster and at least two days before
they can use the mail list.
c. All senders
to the list are Recommended to use their true name, but are only Required
to in case when having his/her name known will better serve our
subscribers.
d. All postings are
limited to 100kb in size, or otherwise determined by the Listmaster.
3. Is there any
restriction on advertising?
Forbidden
advertisements are only of bulk or chain type. Persona advertisements are welcome except in those cases that the message will
lead to harm, annoyances or misunderstandings to our subscribers.

1.
ACCEPTANCE OF AGREEMENT
Welcome to the Chinese Student & Scholar Association of the University of Colorado at Boulder
('CU-CSSA') Email List (hereinafter referred to as the "List")! The List
provides its service to you, subject to the following User's agreement
(hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement"), which may be updated by us from
time to time. You will be notified of any changes in the Agreement and
will be assumed to accept any of these changes with continuous
subscription. This service is provided by the Information Technology
Service at the
University
of Colorado
at Boulder
('ITS') and operated by CU-CSSA. Hence, when using this particular email
list service, you shall be subject to the ITS
Policies & Guidelines and the CU-CSSA Constitution.
2.
YOUR
REGISTRATION OBLIGATIONS
As a subscriber, you have the access to emails posted on the List
and have the right to send emails to all subscribers. Please be notified that
currently only subscribers can use the service and should not use the
service for profit.
In consideration of your use of the List, you agree to: (a)
provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself
in the body text of your subscription email as required by the Listmaster
and (b) maintain and promptly update the information to keep it true,
accurate, current and complete. You will automatically have the foresaid
right as a subscriber after the Listmaster approves your subscription or
two days after your registration, whichever comes later. If you provide
any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or
Listmaster has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is
untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, Listmaster has the right
to suspend or terminate your subscription and refuse any and all current
or future use of the service.
You should use true name when subscribing into the list. However, you [Please add this sentence. ]may use your true name, nicknames or other names as sender name.[Your true name, nickname or other name as sender’s name. ] However, you are obliged to post your true name in cases that, as determined by the Listmaster, having your true name known will better serve all other subscribers.

SUBSCRIBER
CONDUCT
By subscribing, you agree to NOT use the List to:
Post any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
Post any "spam", "chain letters", ”commercial advertisements”, "pyramid schemes", or any other form of solicitation;
Post any materials or promotions that, once read, will directly lead to misunderstanding or strong influence on one's political belief and religion choice;
Post any material that is larger than 100 kilobytes, or otherwise determined by Listmaster;
Upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;
You acknowledge that Listmaster has the right (but not the obligation) in its sole discretion to refuse or remove any postings that are thought to be inappropriate for distributing in the List. Listmaster reserves the right to remove any commercial advertisement postings. [We can actually not remove any existing posting on the list. So let’s remove this part.]You agree that Listmaster, in its sole discretion, may terminate your use of the service, for any reason, without limitation, if Listmaster believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the spirit of the Agreement. Further, you agree that Listmaster shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to the service.
4.
AUTHORITY OF EXPLANATION AND EXECUTION
You acknowledge that the final authority of explanation and
execution of the Agreement rests upon the Council of CU-CSSA (Council)
and that the Listmaster has the right of execution in daily operations of
the List. Any replacements, amendments, suspensions or termination of the
Agreement must be approved by at least half of all Council members
attending the Council meeting. You may appeal to the Council for any
actions that have been taken by the Listmaster to your right of
subscription and use of the List. Council has the final authority on
decisions concerning your case.
