Adam Swetlik
Adam has also been Head Coach of Colorado Junior Crew and remains on as an assistant coach. Colorado Junior Crew is Boulder's high school rowing team. Adam has coached the program for over three years and led it to be among the top Colorado junior rowing teams. He hopes to continue using the coaching skills he has learned with CJC and the values he learned as a CU rower to continue growing and building both programs.
Terence Fitzgerald
Terence Fitzgerald is Colorado Crew's new Women's Head Coach. He rowed collegiately for four years at Iona College, where he competed in events ranging from lightweight eight to open pair and supported team operations for two years as president of the club's student organization. In his senior year, he was awarded the team's Challenge Cup in recognition of his efforts. He stayed on at Iona after graduation to coach the novice women.
A native New Yorker and USRowing certified Level 1 coach, Terence most recently coached and competed with Harlem River Community Rowing, a masters organization committed to providing water access and affordable rowing opportunities to New York City. Rowing for Terence is a lifelong passion. In addition to preparing his rowers to compete at the highest level, he seeks to instill an enduring love of the sport.
Ina Koe
The 2011 fall season is Ynke “Ina” Jetske de Koe's first semester coaching at CU. Ina began her rowing career as a walk-on at the University of Vermont (UVM) in 2000. In the summer of 2001 while sculling at the Narragansett Boat Club (NBC) in Providence, RI, Ina was recruited to row at University of Rhode Island (URI). She made the decision to transfer to URI and rowed there for 4 years; captaining the team in her senior year.
Ina's coaching career began in 2003 at NBC where she taught sculling and sweep rowing to all ages, a job she has enjoyed for the last 8 years. While working at NBC, Ina also coached at the high school level (Bay View Academy) and collegiate level for several years. From 2007 to 2009, Ina was the head coach at Roger Williams University (RWU) for both the men’s and women’s teams, building the RWU rowing program from the ground up.
When she isn't coaching, Ina stays in touch with rowing as an active sculler and racer.
Ryan Onasick
Ryan Onasick joins the Colorado Crew for his first year as the men's assistant coach. He was a four-year varsity rower at Cornell University (2006-2010). After spending a year away from rowing in Kentucky the following graduation, Ryan was eager to get back on the water when he moved to Boulder, Colorado. Fortunately, the CU rowing team was looking for an assistant coach, giving Ryan the opportunity to help build boat speed in a young and promising crew.
Zach Leonard
Zach Leonard is in his first year as Program Director for Colorado Crew. He picks up the reins from Adam Swetlik, who was the interim program director for the 2011 Spring Semester, following the departure of Alex Berlin. Zach is a proud CU alumnus and has lived just down the road from Boulder, his entire life. Like Adam, Zach began collegiate rowing with no experience at all, but graduated a four-year varsity rower. With the skills and determination of head coaches Swetlik and Fitzgerald, Zach is confident that the team will continue to grow and get faster during his tenure. He is excited to assume leadership of the program, and continue to push the team to reach an ultimate goal of becoming the fastest club rowing program in the nation.
