After a long season of hard work, the 2008 Buffs
were rewarded with an at-large bid to the Mid-America
Regional Tournament. The tournament will be held
in Topeka, Kansas this coming weekend, May 10
and 11 at the Lake Shawnee Baseball Complex. Colorado
State, the University of Kansas, and the University
of Northern Iowa are also scheduled to compete
in this double elimination tournament.
The Buffs will open with the champions of the
Mid-America South Conference, Kansas Jayhawks,
at 9:00 AM Saturday. Conference rivals CSU, and
Mid-America West Conference champions, will open
with the Mid-America North Conference champions,
Northern Iowa Panthers, in the second game of
the day. The losers of the first two games will
meet in an elimination game at 3:00 PM Saturday,
while the winners will meet at 6:00 PM. Play will
continue on Sunday starting at 10:00 AM to determine
the other team for the championship round. Click

Th Buffs opened the tournament by facing the
Mid-America South champion Kansas Jayhawks. Behind
the two hit pitching of Shams Sayed, the Buffs
beat the Jayhawks 4-1. They now await the results
of the second game pitting Colorado State against
Northern Iowa. CU will face the winner at 6:00
PM.
The Buffs faced the Colorado State Rams in the
second round of the tournament. CSU, 2-1 winners
oover Northern Iowa, got the best of the Buffs,
6-1. Colorado will face Northern Iowa, winners
over Kansas in an elimination game, on Sunday,
May 10th. The winner of that game will then face
Colorado State for the Regional championship.
The Buffs took on the Panthers of Northern Iowa
Sunday morning, coming back to earn an 8-7 victory.
Next up was conference rival Colorado State in
what the Buffs hoped was the first of two games
to determine the Mid-America Regional champ. Unfortunately
the Buffs run came to an end with a 9-8 loss to
the Rams, ending the season. The Rams will now
continue on the the NCBA World Series in Ft. Myers,
Florida May 23-27.
