Here are some points we will be talking about with passersby:
- The United States has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the Western industrialized world.
- One out of every three young women in America becomes pregnant before she reaches the age of 20.
- Eight out of 10 of these pregnancies are unintended and nearly one-third end in abortion.

We need comprehensive sexuality education for our youth! But currently there is only federal funding for abstinence-only-until marriage programs. Help us collect petition signatures to bring to our Congressmen so they will co-sponsor the Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act, which would provide funding for this much-needed comprehensive sex ed.

Boulder Population Connection Update!

Several Population Connection volunteers have just returned from Washington, D.C., where they attended Population Connection's 'Capitol Hill Days'. Our volunteers learned more about population-related issues such as comprehensive sexuality education, the AIDS epidemic, water shortages, and global climate change, and they were trained to lobby their Congresspeople about legislation that affects these issues. Our Boulder PopConn volunteers had productive meetings with the offices of Representatives Perlmutter and Udall, and with Senators Salazar and Allard about the Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act, the Global Democracy Promotion Act, and about funding for UNFPA and USAID.

We now have Population Connection T-shirts!

They are each $10 (and worth every penny)...please contact Jess about getting yours!
