On a ten-point scale, judges will be instructed to critique as follows:

0-1 points

Unsatisfactory (poor)

2-4 points

Marginal (fair)

5-7 points

Satisfactory (good)

8-9 points

Excellent (great)

10 points

Outstanding (no apparent flaws)

Judges will be instructed to be strict.  An average team should expect a score of 40-60 points.  Scores below 50 points will be very common.  Scores above 80 points will be rare.

A team’s final score for a performance is the equally-weighted average of each of the judges’ scores for that performance minus any assessed penalties.  In the event of a tie, the head judge’s score will be used to determine the winner.
