Armed and Unarmed Drill Downs

 

Armed Drill Down – tickets may be purchased on the day of the meet.  Tickets are $4 a person and there is no entry limit per school.  Cadets may not participate in multiple armed heats.    

 

Unarmed Drill Down – tickets may be purchased on the day of the meet.  Tickets are $1 a person and there is no entry limit per school.  Cadets may not participate in multiple unarmed heats. 

 

Tickets for both drill downs are not refundable. 

 

Rules:

 

Cadets must execute each command perfectly.  Cadets will be “tapped out” if they make any mistakes.  Cadets must immediately fall out and exit the drill floor when “tapped out”. 

 

Common Armed Drill Down mistakes:

 

Eyes not caged

Butt of rifle not flush against foot at attention 

Rifle not 4” away from body at port arms or present arms

Arm not parallel or elbow not pinned at right or left shoulder

Feet not at 45 degree angle or heels not together

Rifle not vertical at present arms

            (port arm angles may vary)

Right arm not extended at parade rest

Not pinning free arm while executing facing movements at right or left shoulder

Improper execution of a movement

 

Common Unarmed Drill Down mistakes:

 

Feet not at 45 degree angle or heels not together

Eyes not caged

Improper hand arrangement at parade rest

Arms coming unpinned when facing

Improper hand or kink in the wrist at present arms

Finger not touching eyebrow with non-brimmed caps or not touching brim with brimmed caps

Not pinning arms while executing facing movements

Improper execution of a movement
