Natives, Aliens, and Immigrants: The Politics of Borders

This year's theme seeks responses to and asks questions about the rising tide of anti-immigration policies and movements that are gendered and racialized in the context of globalization and the exclusivity of citizenship.

Our workshops examine immigration not just in its narrow sense of movement from one place to another.

We further this by also looking at the politics of borders and the metaphorical sense of border crossings, including, but not limited to sexual orientation, disability and the nation.
