Producer
The producer is the coordinator of the coordinators. She is
ultimately
responsible for making sure everything gets done, that all jobs have
someone taking care of them and is the person who communicates with Kris.
This position starts in the fall and lasts until the ice show is over and
the last remnants of the show have been taken care of (like mailing the
videos).
Music Coordinator
The music coordinator is responsible for choosing music that goes with the
theme and is appropriate for the levels of skaters in the show. She is
also responsible for getting the music cut and getting the final versions
put on a master CD for the show and practice tapes or CDs for the
individual numbers. Finally, she is responsible for making sure each of
the choreographers gets the appropriate practice music, a list of all the
skaters in the number and the level of skaters in that group. This job
starts in the fall and is mostly complete before spring term.
Costume Coordinator
The costume coordinator is responsible for designing appropriate costumes
for the music and levels of skaters, determining where costume pieces can
be acquired and recruiting volunteers to help make the costume. She is
ultimately responsible for making sure all skaters have their costumes
before the dress rehearsal. This job starts in the fall once the music
has been selected and finishes when all the costumes are delivered. The
bulk of the work happens in March and April, when the costumes are made.
This position requires someone who can sew and has a sewing machine.
Set Coordinator
The set coordinator is responsible for designing the props that go against
the back wall of the rink, getting volunteers to help paint them in the
month before the show, setting them up before the show and taking
everything down and putting it away after the show. Also included in the
set up and break down is the Christmas lights, which line the edges of the
rink and she is responsible for coordinating with Kris to get the
Plexiglas removed from the front of the rink.
Program, Ticket, and Flyer Coordinator
The program, ticket and flyer coordinator creates the look and feel of all
the printed material for the show. This position starts at the beginning
of the spring semester when registration flyers are created for around the
rec center. This person will need access to a good computer with good
graphics capabilities and a program like Publisher for creating the
program. She will also need access to a scanner for all the pictures that
go into the program. This person will also create flyers announcing the
show and tickets in March. This position lasts until about one week
before the show, when the program gets printed.
Bake Sale Coordinator
The bake sale coordinator is responsible for getting food donations,
volunteers to work the sale and the set up and clean up of the bake sale
each night. She is completely responsible for the running of the bake
sale.
Registration Coordinator
The registration coordinator is responsible for preparing the
registration materials, advertising the registration period and getting
volunteers to work the registration table. She is then responsible for
getting all the information collected to the appropriate people.
Volunteer Coordinator
The volunteer coordinator recruits parents and friends and organizes
them to help produce the ice show. Volunteers are needed to collect
tickets, make costumes, work the bake sale, clean up after each show, put
up the set before the first show and take down the set after the last
show, monitor backstage and organize the skaters during the show.
Publicity Coordinator
The publicity coordinator takes care of letting the community know
about the show. She will contact newspapers and radio stations around the
area and give them information about the show. She will also make sure
that flyers have been posted around the university and the community and
that parents have flyers well in advance of the show to post in their
childrens' schools, their churches and their workplaces.
