The SOFO acts as an on-campus
bank for student groups, as well as a travel
agent, purchasing department, and event manager.
Student organizations using university facilities
must maintain an account and conduct their
business through our office. Funding for student
groups granted from university sources is also
placed in an appropriate account in the SOFO.
Currently the SOFO oversees more than 800
student group accounts with a combined balance
approaching two million dollars. The SOFO supports
and enhances student life at CU-Boulder through
service to student groups. Student affiliation
with groups aids in student retention and the
activities of such organizations create diversity
within the campus environment.

The Student Organizations Finance Office
(SOFO) is a service department of the University
of Colorado Student Union (UCSU) located in
UMC 231 just to the left of the UMC reception
desk.

Office Supply Policy for Affilated student groups: Beginning May 1, 2008, the SOFO will no longer be able to reimburse the purchase of office supplies (pens, pencils, paper, staples, folders, labels, etc.) for Affiliated Student Groups.
If it’s something that could be considered an office supply, we cannot process a reimbursement for the purchase. This policy change affects only Affiliated, fund 20 groups.
Instead, individuals will need to use the university’s normal procurement methods, (Procurement Card, Purchase Order, IN) to directly buy these restricted commodities. Affiliated Student Groups must contact the SOFO prior to spending money to insure that the purchase is reimbursable.
