Verification

Required Documents and Forms

As part of our required verification process, our office may request certain documents and forms to supplement the information we get from your FAFSA. Forms can be found here and faxed to 303-492-0838

Missing Information Letters/Emails

As we start to process applications, we'll mail, if you’re a new student, or email, if you’re a continuing student, notifications of any components of your application that we might be missing. Please keep your mailing address and email address current with the University so that you will receive these notifications. You may also check on CUConnect to see what is missing from your file, including any missing forms.

Estimated Tax vs. Actual

If you or your parents haven't filed your taxes by the time you fill out your FAFSA, you can use estimated tax information. If your EFC is 7000 or lower, or if you turn in a Professional Judgement appeal, you will be required to turn in your actual taxes and if it differs greatly from what you estimated, your financial aid package could drastically change, so please estimate as close as you can. If you have filed for a federal tax extension and we've requested your taxes, you may turn in your tax extension form along with copies of your W2’s or if you are self-employed, a signed statement of estimated earnings for the tax year. Your actual tax forms will need to be submitted to our office by the federal tax extension due date. If you have filed for another extension, you will be required to provide documentation of this. If you have not turned in your actual tax returns by the federal extension due date, your aid will be cancelled. You will receive notification asking for your actual tax returns before the due date.
