Colorado Opportunity Fund (COF)
Colorado resident undergraduate students are eligible for a stipend from the State of Colorado to help pay their tuition. Students must apply and authorize by the last day of classes each semester in order to be eligible for that semester's stipend. FAFSA
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) should be completed as soon as possible after it is available (January) for each academic year the student needs financial aid assistance.
April 1st is the priority date for maximum funding. After this date, CU-Boulder continues to offer aid as long as funds are available. You may submit the FAFSA to apply for financial aid throughout the academic year however, you must file your FAFSA, and submit all other documents we request, no later than one month before your last day of classes for the academic year you seek funding for.
Promissory Notes
For your Direct Loans you can sign a master promissory note on-line at dlenote.ed.gov. Expect 3 days processing time. You can also request a paper copy of a master promissory note from our office (contact info). For the Perkins loan, you will receive a master promissory note in the mail one week after you accept the loan. The deadline for all promissory notes is two weeks before the end of the term.
Scholarships
Scholarship Application - The application deadline for most scholarships is March 1. Some deadlines may be earlier. To find out more about scholarships and even apply for scholarships online please see our Scholarships page.
You should plan to apply for scholarships around February. Most of the scholarships have a deadline of March 1 but many other scholarships have different deadlines. Please refer to the Scholarships Services page for details.
