There are many ways to
prevent annoying
junk mail from ever reaching your mailbox.
- A great way is to go
online to www.dmaconsumers.org,
and click on the icon on the left-hand side that says "Take
my name off those lists," (you can also get off telephone
and e-mail lists while you're at it).
- Another good way is to call the 1-800 number
found on unwanted
publications or write to them and ask them to remove you from
their
list.
- To stop credit card solicitations, call 1-888-567-8688 (1-888-5OPT-OUT).
CU’s Printing
and Copying Services operates six copy centers on campus
with a long-standing commitment to "green printing". Among
their offerings....
- high post consumer content paper
- recycled CU stationary and business cards
- alternative, tree-free paper
- alternatives to deep-dyed, neon or dark paper papers
- print-on-demand capabilities
Why SHOULDN’T you use neon or dark paper?
- They are not recyclable through CU and they take time to
remove from current office pak recycling.
- Neon and dark papers are made with harmful chemicals and
heay metals like cadmium and arsenic that are leached into
ground water and rivers!
CU Recycling encourages donations of usable goods to charitable
causes. During residence hall move-out, we coordinate a donations program
in each hall. If you are moving out at the end of finals, please make
an effort to keep your unwanted belongings out of the landfill. There
are many charitable organizations in Boulder that will gladly accept
clothing,
furniture, and appliances — we have published
a list of some of them.
You can also look in the phone book under charities, thrift
stores, clothes-used, or furniture-used. Call for what they accept and
drop-off times. Some offer pick-up services.
CU Recycling
offers a number of special recycling services to campus offices who
are cleaning, moving, or purging files. From picking up your
sensitive documents
and providing confidential destruction to delivering extra recycling
bins and procedural information for your office cleanup, our recycling
services help you save time, lower disposal costs and provide environmental
benefits.
