Newspaper and Office Pak can be conveniently recycled in your own desk side recycling bin!

  • Place your newspapers in one side and office pak on the other side of the divider in the bin. Desk side recycling bins are emptied once a week by Collections Staff. Call Facilities Management at 2-5321 for your office’s desk side collection day or to request additional bins.

In-Office Trainings. CU Recycling staff can visit your office or department to share the latest information on recycling at CU and assess how much your office has helped the environment through your recycling and waste reduction efforts.

Green Products Guide. You are not recycling unless you are buying recycled products. CU has compiled the Recycled Products Guide which contains information on recycled options for a wide variety of products.

Special Collections. If you are cleaning out files, storerooms, etc. and have more recyclables than the current recycling station can handle, please call 2-5321 to arrange for special containers and collections.

Confidential Shredding. Sensitive documents can be shredded and recycled with a guarantee of confidentiality. This service is available for a nominal fee.

Pallet Recycling. Used wooden pallets are collected from the main campus loading docks once a week. Please place your pallets out of the way. Do not put pallets in the trash. Call 2-5321 for a special pickup if you have a large quantity of pallets.

Battery Disposal. Environmental Health & Safety accepts sealed and non-leaking batteries from pagers, cell phones, laptops, etc. from University operations. Dispose alkaline batteries as trash. Contact 2-7845 for more info.

No news is good news. One newspaper subscription uses two trees in just one semester! Do you really need your own? Read the news on-line, share a subscription with friends, or buy from a vending machine when you need one.

Reduce your waste. Carry a reusable mug to use instead of disposable cups. Use your backpack instead of a bag. Use your head — cut your waste.
