Get Involved
Students (what you can do):
• Volunteer at the RecycleMania X-Games!
• Individually we make a difference by recycling.
• Recycling a four-foot stack of newspapers saves the equivalent of one 40-foot fir tree.
• every glass bottle recycled saves enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours.
• Making cans from recycled aluminum saves 95% of the energy required to produce cans from virgin material.
• Americans throw away enough aluminum to rebuild the entire commercial airline fleet every three months.
• The most important thing you can do to help RecycleMania is be a conscientious recycler – every bottle, can, newspaper, and piece of paper… in the correct recycling bin.
• Volunteer! We need your help getting the word out to other students by tabling, making class announcements, putting up posters and chalking. Email Sarah Engel engelse@colorado.edu
• If you live in the residence halls become a RecycleMania Liaison. We’ll provide you with posters for your halls trash cans and dumpsters, bulletin boards, and help you present to your hall council. Email Marcie.cole@colorado.edu
• Enter a team for Recycling X-games, Wednesday March 9th from 11 – 3 pm . Email wallach@colorado.edu
