  • Act as the primary point of contact and principal advocate for campus veterans and service members.
  • Market the university as an option for veterans who wish to continue their education
  • Provide assistance in resolving a broad range of veterans' issues whenever needed.
  • Provide referrals to veterans for both on-- and off--campus services.
  • Establish and operate an informal veterans support group.
  • Actively build campus strategies to promote the campus’s success in recruiting veterans.
  • Identify and maintain an up-to-date accurate contact list of the veterans on campus and communicate with them regularly.
  • Assist in the transition from the military to the campus life.
  • Develop an informal mentoring program for student veterans.
  • Serve as the university’s liaison and maintain a positive and productive relationship with local, state, federal offices and organizations that support veteran’s activities.
  • Solicit scholarships and grants to assist student veterans.
  • Advise university leadership on veterans’ concerns regarding federal and state legislative issues.
  • Seek and promote veterans involvement in civic engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with and assess veterans’ programs at other universities in consideration for possible implementation on our campus.
  • Enhance the visibility and appreciation for our campus veteran’s community.
  • Periodically assess the needs and services of veterans and if necessary, modify the goals, objectives and operations of the Veterans' Affairs office.
