Veterans Supporter, are you interested in assisting a student veteran at CU Boulder with career decisions?
The Office of Veterans Affairs in collaboration with the Career Services at the University of Colorado, Boulder are establishing an informal mentoring program for CU students who are former members of the Armed Forces.
The process is simple – you fill out a bio on Career Services database and you may have the opportunity to help a student whether it is an informational interview, a mentoring relationship, or sitting on a panel to talk about your experience (you choose).
A Database of Professionals
Career Services’ focus is to have a professional contact database available for students to search if they are interested in speaking to an established professional. CU student veterans will be able to search the database. A student will meet with a career counselor prior to contacting you to learn about informational interviewing, mentoring, etc, this is to insure they take advantage of your time and experience.
If you find that too many students are contacting you (this will be a rare occurrence), we can make you temporarily or permanently inactive and your name will not come up when a student is searching our database.
Level of Participation Varies
You have the option to select your level of participation on the database. You will see the following options while filling out your profile: informational interview, mentoring, shadowing, sitting on a career panel, and/or speaking to a club or group. Please indicate the activities of interest.
Please be sure to fill out the profile as completely as possible, so that students are able to find the best fit possible to talk about their interests.
How to sign up
We believe you will find chatting with students rewarding, and it is one more way for you and your organization to become involved with CU student veterans. If you or fellow employees are interested in assisting student veterans please register at https://myinterfase.com/cuboulder/mentor/home.aspx (make sure to disable your pop up blockers).
If you have any questions, contact jodi.schneiderman@colorado.edu.
