What is the American West (CAMW 2001) and how is it taught at Sewall?

The American West (CAMW 2001) is an interdisciplinary course that explores the West both as a physical region and a cultural landscape. For a broader discussion, see the Sewall program webpage , and the website for the Center of the American West: http://www.centerwest.org/ .

What is my room assignment? Who is my roommate?

The Academic Program Office is not able to answer questions about room assignments or roommate requests. You may expect to receive information by mail about your specific room/roommate assignment from Housing in early June. Any questions that you may have after you receive your housing information should be directed to the Housing Reservations Center , (303) 492-6673.

Is Sewall Hall completely co-ed?

Men and women students are primarily divided by wings, but are sometimes across the hallway from each other.

Are the bathrooms co-ed?

No, there are separate bathrooms for men and women, conveniently located in each hallway. All bathrooms have tubs as well as showers.

Is Sewall Hall a secure building?

Sewall Hall is a secure building. Living areas and classrooms can only be entered through locked doors.

Where should Sewall students park their cars?

Sewall students can purchase CU parking permits that will allow them to park their cars in designated lots. For information about parking, please see the Parking Services website: http://ucbparking.colorado.edu/Students/Default.asp

Where is Sewall Hall located on the CU-Boulder campus?

Sewall Hall is conveniently located near Norlin Library, the Humanities classroom building, and the Recreation Center . It is close to downtown and city bike trails.

Is there good, cheap local bus service near the University?

Both Boulder and Denver are served by the Regional Transportation District (RTD), and several buses stop near the CU-Boulder campus. In addition, there are the Boulder HOP and the Boulder SKIP buses, which provide regular service from the University to downtown Boulder . All CU-Boulder students ride the buses free with their valid student ID cards. More information can be found on the Parking Services website (see above) or on the RTD website http://www.rtd-denver.com/.

Do CU-Boulder and Sewall students have access to
computers and computer labs on campus?

There are large computer labs at Norlin library and the Engineering School . All CU students are provided free e-mail accounts and space on a CU server for a homepage. In addition, Sewall is completely wired for cable and the internet. Sewall students now have internet access with speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Students should be sure that the computer they bring with them to CU has a minimum 100 Mbps Ethernet card. Note: CU uses e-mail as an official means of communication; students are responsible for all information that is sent to them at their University
e-mail address!

How do students enroll in a major?

The easiest way for students to enroll in a major is to specify their major on the CU-Boulder Application for Admission. However, students can declare or change
a major by contacting the academic advisor in the department in which they are interested in majoring.

I am not happy with my courses – how do I
change my course schedule?

The Sewall Academic Program Office, located in room A292, will provide scheduling assistance during the first two weeks of the fall semester. CU-PLUS will have real-time information on course availability: https://cuconnect.colorado.edu .
