From Prairies to Peaks

Imagine that you are driving across Colorado from east to west. What do you see, feel, and hear in the natural world as you make this journey from the prairies to the peaks?

Few states exhibit such dramatic variation in landscape, climate, and species as Colorado. Maps and models, along with other fun props, introduce students to Colorado’s unique landscape and dynamic climate. A game using Colorado ecosystem posters and species cards allows students to discover the diversity of species in the state and the interrelationships among plants, animals, land, and climate. Museum specimens enhance the ecosystem game and are used to demonstrate unique adaptations of Colorado’s wildlife.
