Mike and Ann Eisenberg
Mike and Ann Eisenberg,
in CU's Department of Computer Science and Institute of Cognitive Science,
led a five-day Science Discovery workshop in JavaGami,
a software application that they designed for creating three-dimensional
paper sculpture. Students in the workshop used JavaGami to create custom
polyhedra, print folding-nets of their original shapes, and then cut,
glued, and assembled the shapes. Their projects included
a paper catapult, dueling wizards, and a magnificent jeweled jellyfish
in a paper-based aquarium. Along the way, students also encountered
a variety of important ideas in three-dimensional geometry.
