Rocky Mountain Winter Adventures This all day exploration of the winter wonders of Rocky Mountain National Park (http://www.romo.nps.gov) will take children for an exciting and safe ranger-guided outing to discover the wildlife, forests, and properties of snow that make the park an intriguing and exciting place to explore in winter. We will strap on snowshoes and set off to discover this amazing winter world on a 3-mile (round trip) snowshoe hike. The journey will take us into the forest to follow the tracks of animals that survive out in the cold, over frozen lakes and rivers where fish hide through the winter, and under the snow to discover who makes the sub- nivean world their home. Ever wonder why trees do not freeze or where the bugs go when it gets cold? Discover the answer to these mysteries and much more! Proper winter clothing and footwear will be required for this outing. Note: Transportation and snowshoes provided. Dress for cold, winter weather, head to toe. Bring day pack to carry water, lunch, sunscreen and one extra layer of clothing that is warm and windproof. This class will meet at Science Discovery and travel in a CU van to Rocky Mountain National Park. Van drivers are university certified and Science Discovery staff. CLASS CODE: RMWA/W |
