Rocket Design

Students who have completed the Model Rockets class will explore more advanced rocketry techniques in this session. We will design and build our own rockets from scratch and then test and fly them. We'll learn about the use of staging and multiple engine clusters to enhance rocket performance. We'll investigate ways to modify rockets to allow the addition of payload sections to already built rockets. We will examine the flight parameters of various engines and how they affect rocket performance options. Please note: In order to finish your rockets you must attend class each day. Please bring a non-peanut snack and a water bottle. A materials fee of $40 is included in the class fee. Model Rockets is a prerequisite to this class.

Our week will culminate with an actual test flight in a Piper Cub or Cessna 182 and maybe even a helicopter! We will fly out of Boulder Airport on Saturday (weather permitting) with the Young Eagles organization. We will invite our family to join us! Be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity!
