Birds, Beaks & Beyond – A Field Class Join us as we spend each day discovering and identifying a variety of birds that live in the Boulder area. With binoculars and bird identification books in hand, we'll head off to some local trails, streams and ponds to see if we can locate beautiful songbirds and birds of prey. We'll look for nests, listen to songs, and create our own journal of drawings and observations while we learn about bird morphology and habitat. We'll make some tasty bird treats and possibly even a house. We'll definitely gain a deeper interest in birds and appreciation for the need for conservation. Finally, we'll have a unique opportunity to visit the Birds of Prey Foundation where we'll get to see injured hawks, owls, falcons, and eagles up close. As part of this class, you will help adopt one of these majestic birds of prey to help them once again soar free. If you love birds, this class is for you! Please note: This is a field class. Students will be transported in university vans with a trained driver. Students need sturdy walking shoes, hat, daypack, waterproof windbreaker, water bottle, a non-peanut snack and lunch each day, as well as sunscreen and repellent pre-applied.
