Whitewater and Wolves

This trip will capture your heart, mind, and sense of adventure! Mission:Wolf calls to the wild within us, while a day navigating one of Colorado’s premier whitewater rivers through a geologically rich canyon leaves us feeling exuberant.

A captivating week, we start out at Mission:Wolf, an education center and wolf sanctuary in the Wet Mountains near Gardner, Colorado. A remote and peaceful place, M:W is home to nearly 40 wolves living out their lives in dignity with their pack, surrounded by fenced enclosures. Kent Weber, Executive Director, shares his depth of knowledge and expertise interpreting wolf behavior, wolf ecology, wildlife biology and reintroduction issues. Many of our students couldn’t get enough and have returned to M:W as volunteers. Some have utilized their powerful experience in high school projects or in a related career.

After we say our wolf good-byes, we travel to the Arkansas River Valley with awe-inspiring views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Collegiate Peaks. The week ends with a full day of white-water rafting, guided by Four Corners Rafting, through Brown’s Canyon, a class 3 section of the Arkansas River. This popular trip fills early!
