Prairie Dogs

A curiosity of the natural world and a sense of adventure are all you need for Peak and Prairie! We start out the week learning about our group through games and group challenges. Each morning begins by solving the mystery specimen of the day! We’ll mix in exciting cooperative learning activities about animals, plants, geology and natural history of the grasslands, riparian, montane, sub-alpine and alpine ecosystems. Using scientific methods that includes collecting aquatic critters we’ll determine the quality of Boulder Creek while at Eldorado Canyon State Park. We’ve added a visit to the CU greenhouse and an afternoon of “mountain-inspired music for children of the Rockies”. The week culminates in the sub-alpine and alpine ecosystem at the CU Mountain Research Station. Highlights include using the solar telescope, hiking on Niwot Ridge, exploring marmot and pika territory, and discovering the amazing survival techniques required of alpine flora and fauna. Join us as we embark on four days of fun learning adventures!
