boys adventure

Adolescence is a time of growth and change. Our goal to is provide an educational adventure for middle school boys who are up for a unique intellectual, physical, and emotional challenge. A combination of wildlife biology, natural history of the Wet Mountains, astronomy, wilderness skills, and related topics will be incorporated into the week. The EDventure begins at Mission:Wolf near the famed Greenhorn Mountain where one of the last free ranging wolves of Colorado is rumored to have been killed. See Mission:Wolf. Wolf behavior, community living, and energy conservation will be highlighted. Evenings will include a variety of activities and classes that are framed by the howls of Kawh, Polar Bear, Gizmo, and Guinness. Topics will include navigation and route-finding skills, fire-building techniques, weather prediction, flora and fauna. The trip culminates with a backpack into the Powderhorn Wilderness where students will put their new skills to use. Students return home captured by the spirit of the Wolf, possessing the skills and knowledge that only wilderness can teach, and the confidence to transfer the experience to our community, friends and family.
