About Us Chili Pot 2011

Chili Pots

This is an opportunity to informally come together. The idea for a chili pot came from DeLaris Carpenter a former African American CU counselor (from CMA). This idea is originally called a bean pot as beans are a staple food of many underrepresented communities. Use our chili pot as a way to refresh and refuel for the day! Community Health also provides free massages and aromatherapy at our chili pots.

The chili pots are every other Wednesday between 12:00pm-2:00pm in the Senior Dedication Lounge (UMC 227). Check our calendar for upcoming dates.

Open Mic Nights

SORCE has an Open Mic Night once a month. These Open Mic Nights have been successful both in attendance and in building community on campus between underrepresented communities and the community at-large. Come and share your artwork/poetry/music or just come and enjoy this art! Topics have ranged from social justice, love, socializing and building community.

Women/Men of Color Institute

SORCE hosts Women & Men of Color Institutes bi-weekly on Thursdays from 4:45-5:45 pm in the Senior Dedication Lounge. These institutes are an opportunity for the community to come together to talk about issues affecting colored people in a safe zone. Refreshments are provided. Check out our calendar for the next insitute date!

SORCE will host a series of Breakfasts Lunch's, and Dinners (BLDs). We believe that food brings people together and a family that eats together stays together. This is an opportunity to build community with other students, staff, and faculty. Our intention is to provide services that are intended to be helpful for students (i.e. this can range from services such as Teach for America information to chair massages/aromatherapy).
