Azita (AJ) Jacobson
Major: Kinesiology
Research Focus: The immune response to diabetes at a cytokine level. The cytokine TNF is closely related to insulin resistance that is seen largely in Mexican-American women. Since the Mexican-American population is the fastest growing minority in the United States and the most affected by diabetes, I believe that this issue warrants more investigation.
