Volunteer Opportunity:
Consumer Affairs Unit, D.A.’s Office
The Boulder
County D.A.’s
Office is seeking a volunteer with a professional background to assist in handling consumer fraud
complaints. The Consumer Affairs division mediates consumer complaints that
cover a wide variety of problems encountered by consumers, from auto-sales to
building contractors. Staff attempts to negotiate a fair settlement between
consumers and businesses to keep the issue out of court. Mediation may take two
weeks, or can turn into civil or criminal investigations that last months.
Volunteers are trained in consumer law and deal with their own caseload of
complaints. The volunteer needs exceptional communication skills, good judgment
and patience, and an ability to deal effectively with the public. Daytime
hours, prefer two four-hour shifts per week for a minimum six-month commitment.
Please call Jan Allan, Director of the Justice System
