The new SCSS project provides the following resources to all schools in Colorado:

Grand Junction Regional Training

The third Safe Schools Regional Training, sponsored by the Colorado School Safety Resource Center (CSSRC) and the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV), with support from the Colorado Office of the Attorney General and the Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool, was held September 29-30, 2009 in Grand Junction! It was free to Colorado educators, law enforcement officers, mental health professionals, community organizations, parents, and others in the state who work with K-12 students.

SEPT 29: PLENARY & BREAKOUT SESSIONS

    Dr. Linda Kanan, Director, Colorado School Safety Resource Center (CSSRC)
  • School Violence and School Climate
    Dr. Del Elliott, Director, Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV)
  • Cyber Bullying: Bullying in the Digital Age
    Dr. Patricia Agatston will discuss the evolving methods of bullying being used in cyberspace. Dr. Agatston is a counselor and prevention specialist serving the Cobb County School District in Georgia. She is a co-author of Cyber Bullying: Bullying in the Digital Age.

  • US Secret Service: The Safe School Initiative, Bystander Studies & Threat Assessment
    Georgeann DiCaprio, former Threat Assessment Specialist with the US Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center
  • IS-100S.Ca: Intro to ICS for Schools (the course)
    Dave Sullivan, Certified Emergency Manager, will lead participants through the course in preparation for the online exam.

    Dr. John Nicoletti, Nicoletti-Flater & Associates, and the Colorado School Safety Resource Center
  • NIMS Implementation for Schools

CEUs are available through the University of Colorado at Boulder's Continuing Education Department. There is a cost of $45 and the number of CEUs earned is based upon a formula where 10 hrs = 1 CEU. CEU forms may be obtained by emailing SafeSchools@colorado.edu.
