All knowledge is positioned.

There is no distant vista from which the world can be perceived clearly, which pulls away the veils of our individualities.
Not only is all knowledge positioned, it is framed within a power dynamic that regulates what is said and by whom.
In the cases presented in this study, the exhibited representational power dynamics are threefold. One is exercised through the subject, another is discursive, and the final is personal. The subject exercises its control through a responsibility to texts, exegesis, and corporeal performances. As academics seeking to represent a set of phenomena classified within the category of tantra we are constrained by the historical developments. We must talk about those phenomena deemed important by the subject we seek to represent, invoking texts, ideas and performances which are coterminous with the tradition itself.
