- This Ghat
is recieves it's name from the belief that at this place five
rivers come together. The Dhutapapa
('Cleaned of sin'); the Kirana
('sun ray'); these join to form the Dharmanada ('river of
Dharma'). The other three streams are the
Ganga, the Yamuna, and
the Sarasvati.

- Bathing here is particularly
intense during the month of Karttika
when it is said that all the gods bathe here every day.

- This was the place where Kabir
recieved his initiation.
- He was a Muslim of low birth
and as a result was not eligible for initiation, but it is said
that he extracted the Mantra from his teacher by laying down on
the Ghat and when his guru came
before dawn to bathe he tripped over Kabir
and shouted Ram!
Ram! Kabir considered this a blessing and took it as his
intiatory mantra.
- The place of the earlier temples is now
covered by a giant Mosque. Which is so enormous that it dominates the riverside.
- At this Ghat
there are many three sided rooms some of which house Lingas or other
images, while still others are used for mediation.
- These
are all covered over when the rains come.
