NEWSLETTERS

The following listing of newsletters is not a complete index of all the newsletters of relevance to the field. Many more have been mentioned in the section above and I feel no need to repeat myself. So, for more newsletter, please look at the section on Organizations.

a. American Oriental Society:

This is a very informative newsletter which is published twice yearly and provides news of conferences, grants, fellowships, programs, positions, journals and many other crucial issues central to South Asian scholars.

b. Asian Studies Newsletter:

This newsletter is published five times a year and includes news about publications and resources, fellowships, grants, study programs and conferences, as well as job placement registration, and other information from the Secretariat. They can be contacted concerning subscription at the Association for Asian Studies webpage. Copies of these newsletters are also posted on-line at this site.

c. Bulletin of Concerned Asian Scholars:

This newsletter is a progressive nonprofit quarterly published on issues of concern to South Asian studies. The focus is not specifically upon religion, but there is extensive material on South Asia which is of interest. It was first established in 1968. d. HAS Newsletter:

This is an on-line Quarterly produced by the International Institute for Asian Studies in the Netherlands. It contains interviews, research updates, book reports, conference reports, information about fellowships and grants, forum articles and more! There is also a home page site that contains back files and other important links. This is a very important group of European Scholars. They can be contacted through the ejournal section of the SARAI home page.

e. ISOSA Newsletter:

This is the newsletter produced by the Independent Society of South Asianists, a groups of scholars who are not affiliated with any institution. The newsletter is published on-line and provides news of events, grants, and fellowship opportunities. It also analyzes trends in Asian Studies. There is only one issue; however, the site also has a useful gopher menu. It can be reached at http://www.colombia.edu/cu/libraries/indiv/area/sarai/ejournals.html.

f. NCSAS Newsletter:

This newsletter is published by The National Centre for South Asian Studies at Australian National University. It is published as part of the ANU web page which will be described later and can be located there.
