Updated weekly, this resource provides useful access to articles, biographies, and reviews. The scope of these issues center around the Social Sciences in general and not specifically religion.

Anthropological Literature, Tozzler Library, Harvard University, 1984-.

Refreshed quarterly, the index is an organization of anthropological and archaeological information. There is a great deal of relevant material here which is of potential interest to the scholar of Hinduism. It also covers information not published in English.

· Arts and Humanities Citation Index, Pennsylvania Institute for Scientific Information, Philadelphia, 1980-

This resource is renewed quarterly and covers many (if not all) journals concerning Arts and Humanities and is organized by title word, author, journal title, cited author, and cited work. The is a useful Index to work with.

· ATLA Religion Database, ATLA, Evanstone, 1993-.

This CD-ROM is really THE source for journal articles within the field. It contains information from hundreds of different journals. A journal search of articles on Hinduism and all of its many facets should really begin here. It contains material from 1949 to the present and is refreshed annually.

· Biography Index,

Located on CD-ROM, the is a useful starting point for information on authors or major historical figures. It has been maintained since 1984 and contains all available biographical information in journals and books. The use of this resource is a useful, yet often tedious process .

· Book Reviews Digest,

Located in the central reference section of our library, this resource is an index of reviews on English language books since 1983.

· Dissertation Abstracts OnDisc.

This resource is an extremely useful resource which has been catalogued on CD-ROM. It contains abstracts of about 99% of all of the American Ph.D. Dissertations which have been completed in the United States since 1861!!! There are some real gems hidden on this disc.

Human Area Relations File, New Haven 1880-.

Wow! This is a HUGE collection of information about various cultures around the world. The file draws from a wide range of academic approaches to cultural understanding. Articles from the anthropological, sociological, and psychological fields are all included in this file. There are many useful sub-headings which can be of interest to the Hindu scholar.

· Historical Abstracts on Disc

This CD-ROM resource is an index of article abstracts on the World's history since 1982.

· Humanities Index, H.W. Williams Co. New York.

This resource is another CD-ROM which covers issues concerning the humanities since 1984. There are sections on religion; however, there are also sections on art, philosophy, history and classics.

· Indian Mystics Multi-media CD-ROM

Although I have not actually interfaced this CD, It seems to offer some potential, both scholarly and as a teaching tool. It is primarily an encyclopedia of traditional customs and religious facets of India in a multi-media format.

· MLA Bibliography

This bibliographic work covers scholarship on modern languages, "folklore", and literature. It has information archived since 1981, but it does not address any work done before that time.

Philosopher's Index Dialog Information Services Palo Alto, 1991-.

This is another useful CD-ROM which is refreshed quarterly. It provides indexes and abstracts from books and periodicals. It contains information all the way back to 1940. There are many articles of interest on Indian Philosophy.

· REX (Religious Index,) FABS International, Evanstone, 1949-1993.

Produced quarterly, this work is a good source for works found in over 200 journals on numerous different facets of religion.

· Social Sciences Citation Index,

This is another useful CD-ROM which is an archive of articles which were published in various fields of the Social Sciences. It contains information on articles published after 1983.
