The Department of Religious Studies offers comprehensive programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts and the Master of Arts degrees in religious studies. The program aims to provide students with:

    • a broad knowledge of religion as a dimension of human culture,
    • familiarity with a variety of approaches to the academic study of religion,
    • training in advanced research skills.

The Department of Religious Studies pursues a critical and comparative study of religions. This study aims to illuminate the dynamics of religion as a dimension of human culture and to develop theories and methods that advance our understanding of religion in its cultural and historical context. The faculty offers instruction in most of the world's religions:

    • Hinduism
    • Buddhism
    • Christianity
    • Judaism
    • Islam
    • Religions of China and Japan
    • Religions in America
    • Native American
    • Other traditional religions.
