Addresses

Abbreviations
Abbreviate only Ave., Blvd., and St. only with a numbered address. Spell them out and capitalize when part of a formal street name without a number.

    1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

    Pennsylvania Avenue

Address Order (new as of 10/00) Campus addresses should begin with the name of the office or department, or University of Colorado at Boulder if there is no office or department name. In any case, the campus box number should immediately precede the city. Note the use of a "zip + four," which includes the box number.

    Sentence form:

Applications may be requested from the Office of Admissions, University of Colorado at Boulder, 30 UCB, Boulder, CO 80309-0030.

    Stacked address:

    Office of the Registrar
    University of Colorado at Boulder
    20 UCB
    Boulder, CO 80309-0020

Bar Codes A bar code is available for preaddressed courtesy reply envelopes (not prepaid postage; the sender must still stamp the envelope). The courtesy reply bar code processes faster and mail is returned faster. Mailing Services provides the bar code.

Building Names In addresses, do not include the building name and room number unless it is very likely that information requested will be hand delivered to campus offices.

Return your Application for Admission to the University of Colorado, Office of Admissions, Regent 125, 30 UCB, Boulder, CO 80309-0030.

Campus Box Numbers (new as of 10/00)

All campus address (per Mailing Services) must begin with the campus box number immediately followed by a three-letter code for the campus or university affiliate.

So, the box number is now first, followed by a new three-letter code for each campus and university affiliate. The zip + 4s stay the same, and the order of the address elements is as above. The new three-digit alpha codes are:

UCB Boulder
UCD Denver campus
UCS Colorado Springs campus
HSC Health Sciences Center
SYS System administration
CPH Colorado Psychiatric Hospital
DHH Denver Health and Hospitals
FTZ Fitzsimons
NJH National Jewish Hospital
RMC Rose Medical Center
TCH The Children's Hospital
UCH University of Colorado Hospital
VAH Veterans Administration Hospital

NOTE: These codes are only to be used with box numbers in addresses. See CU Names for the correct abbreviations for the University of Colorado and its campuses.
