Pricing and Services

The photography department of the University of Colorado at Boulder is an auxiliary that charges for both producing photographs and usage of photographs in publications and on the web.  The revenue gained from these charges is used to fund the photography office’s operation and equipment upkeep, which is integral to our ability to deliver service to all departments in the university system.

Applicable Fees:

• Photo Refining -$5.00 per image
• Digital Download (download images from camera to computer)-$10.00 per memory card
• Photo CD/DVD - $10.00 per CD/DVD
• Scanning and Digitizing Photos (from 35mm slide or negative and prints) - $6.00 each
• Multimedia Production (including Soundsides) – 75.00 per hour
• Extensis Photo Sharing  (website instead of CD/DVD) - $10.00
• Computer Time (searching archives or major image refining) – $60.00 per hour (first 30 min free)
• One time* Photo Use Fee (for all university use) - $25.00
• One time* Photo Use Fee (non university affiliated) - $125.00
• Photography Sessions (minimum of 1.5 hours) - $70 per hour
• After Hours and Rush Photography Sessions** (minimum of 2 hours) - $100.00 per hour

News Photography:

Legitimate media and traditional media outlets locally, nationally, and internationally will receive our services at no charge.  These requests should be handled through the Media Relations and News Services department of University Communications.  If you believe you have a newsworthy event and would like to see if it applies, please contact the office of media relations and news services.

Official University Head and Shoulder Portraits:

We offer free head and shoulder portraits to all faculty and staff of the University of Colorado.  We have a small satellite studio on the Boulder Main Campus located in Willard Hall.  We offer our portrait services on the first Thursday and Third Wednesday of every month between the hours of 9-11am.  If neither of these times is feasible, please contact the photography office for alternative dates and times.

*All second printings and uses must repay the usage fees applicable to use.
**We require a 48 hour advance notice for all scheduled photography sessions.  24 hours notice prior to the shoot will be charged the rush pricing.  We will not schedule our services under 24 hours notice unless it is deemed an emergency.
