Undergraduate Travel Grants

In an effort to integrate undergraduates more fully into the culture of scientific research the Biological Sciences Initiative offers partial funding for undergraduate students to present research findings at meetings or conferences. Grants range from $500-$700. Funds may be used towards airfare, hotel accommodations, meals and registration. Students may receive funds from the Biological Sciences Initiative for travel only once per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing.

  • The applicant must currently or very recently been funded by the Biological Sciences Initiative through either the BURST, UROP-HHMI or NIH Scholars For Diversity in the Biosciences programs.

  • Student must be presenting a poster or giving an oral presentation.

  • Student will be required to complete short a evaluation at the completion of the conference or meeting.
