Notice how the invader (shown in purple throughout this activity) is uncertain how to get past the walls and mobs of friendly bacteria (shown in green).

In this activity, you will first learn what barriers and defenses our body has to keep invaders out.

Then you will imagine yourself as the purple invader and play the role of an invading microbe. Your goal is to invent strategies to get past these defenses.

At the end, see how your ideas compare to strategies used by real pathogens.
