Outreach Awards

The Outreach Awards Program is offered to pre-college educators at the elementary and secondary levels because an interest in science is often sparked long before a student reaches the university level. As teachers incorporate an increasing number of inquiry-based, investigative activities into their science curriculum, equipment is often needed and funding is scarce. The goal of the Outreach Awards Program is to help make funds available to teachers for equipment to help you do more hands-on science experiments with your students.

  • Grants will be awarded in two cycles:
Winter applications are due November 28, 2008
Spring applications are due April 17, 2009
  • Teachers may receive only one grant in a single academic year.
  • The maximum award amount is $500.
  • Awards must be used to purchase equipment for student/classroom use. Please see examples of funded equipment.
  • We will require you to fill out an evaluation (that we provide) after you use the equipment /materials in your classroom.
