Ready...Set...Science!

BSI launched Ready...Set...Science! to support beginning middle/high school science teachers (grades 6-9). This program, taught by the A-TEAM (Accomplished Teachers Educating and Mentoring) includes retirees Jo Smith and Shaun Armour from Adams 12 and Tim Henson from St. Vrain. The workshop series focuses on increasing teacher confidence; sharing successful lab activities and establishing collegiality among science teachers. In addition, particpants can tap one-on-one mentoring services throughout the year that include: lab suggestions, equipment training, planning (content & labs), teaching strategies, effective communication strategies (with students, parents, administrators), and much more.

  • Eligibility: Participant slots are reserved for St. Vrain and Adams 12 partner districts. Remaining slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Some mentoring services are limited by geographic location.

  • Dates for the 2012-13 year include:
    September 22,
    October 20,
    March 2, and
    April 27.

  • Registration Deadline is September 7, 2012. Late submissions will be considered as space permits.

  • E-mail the Biological Sciences Initiative for more information.
