SHIP's Voyage through the Years

Which program on campus brought together tastes of the world, international students, language clubs, future Fulbright scholars, international relations theory, U.S. Ambassadors, and much more? It was the Smith Hall International Program, or SHIP, a residential academic program administered by the Office of International Education from fall 1997 through spring 2008. SHIP gave students an international experience through various academic and social activities. You knew you were at SHIP when you entered Smith Hall and were welcomed with Mentor Dan's student-created mural that included the Eiffel Tower, Machu Pichu, and the Egyptian pyramids. A visit to the SHIP office meant catching up with fellow SHIPsters, adding a pin to the map, a 'tender sentiment', and, of course, Dove Chocolate.

G-RAP LogoThe program was transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences in fall 2008 and has a new program director and program assistant. The program will be moving to Cheyenne-Arapahoe and will be doubling the number of students and classes. There has also been a name change as the program expands and moves. It is now the 'Global Studies Residential Academic Program', or G-RAP.
