Orientations and registration for new and transfer undergraduate students:

All freshmen and transfer students are required to attend an orientation session in order to be eligible to register (enroll in classes). You will receive information on orientation (or new or transfer student meetings) and registration procedures directly from your college or school, and you must plan to attend this orientation. If you are in a college that holds registration prior to your orientation session, you will receive registration information from the Registrar's Office.

Orientations for graduate students:

Orientation for graduate students is conducted through your individual departments, so please contact your department for questions about graduate student orientation.

Registration:

Registration is enrolling in courses. Generally, students register for classes using the CUConnect system at https://cuconnect.colorado.edu/uPortal/.

At orientation, an academic advisor will help you with registration and requirements for your college and major. Students in some colleges will be instructed to register before attending an orientation. When you register on CUConnect, for each course you will be: (1) enrolled immediately; (2) put on a wait list; or (3) denied enrollment. Read registration information carefully to determine when and how you should register. You will have a window of time in which to do registration, so make sure that you are enrolled for at least one class (even though you may not need that class) before your registration deadline ends . You will have a chance to adjust (drop/add) your course schedule later. After you finish the drop/add process, you must be enrolled full-time in order to meet immigration requirements. Undergraduates must have at least 12 credit hours; graduate students must have at least 5 credit hours of graduate level courses. You can print your class schedule from CUConnect.

Transfer students:

International Admissions will prepare an evaluation of your previous academic work which you can pick up from them, if you haven’t received it prior to arriving in Boulder. Take this transfer credit evaluation to your academic advisor for a determination of how these credits will apply towards your major and degree requirements at CU-Boulder. Arts and Sciences and Business transfer students will get the evaluation at orientation.

Graduate students:

Graduate students should consult with their departmental advisors to determine if there will be an orientation session and which courses are recommended. You can then register in CUConnect.

Exchange Students:

Exchange students coming to the University through a cooperative agreement with the University of Colorado, should register through the CUConnect system before arriving. Try to get at least one class before you arrive, even if it is not a course you need to take. Because you will not attend an academic orientation, you absolutely must attend the special meeting for Exchange students on: Thursday,
